With malice towards none
Yes....... to heal the wounds of more than 1.4 billion people of India. That is what IMA is supposed to do.
But as we stand today on the edge of a new frontier - a frontier of unknown opportunities, perils, unfulfilled hopes & threats, our job and responsibilities multiplies manifold.
Our job is also to keep our fraternity safe from onslaught of fast changing mindset and attitude of society which is creating a palpable gap between the patient and the doctor.
With erosion in moral values, social norms and winds of globalization dotting the landscape, a new set of unforeseen circumstances is emerging where empathy and communication must take the centre stage......... and it must happen fast.
At this stage when medical fraternity has put so much faith in us, we feel enormously empowered and excited. But in the same breath, we believe we can achieve more.
That is why, I request each and every one of you.
Together we can and Together we will achieve our goals and fulfil our responsibilities in IMA.
We fully understand that there are risks and costs to action but they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.
We must use time as a tool.
The best thing about future is that it comes one day at a time. If we collectively and individually try to do our best each and every day, I am confident that this organization will create new benchmarks for others to follow. This is an opportunity and we must seize it.
Too often, we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
I strongly feel that leadership and learning are indispensable. Humility and courage
collectively can do wonders to anyone's personality.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak
Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen
Please remember......... the best time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.
Let us start this year long journey with a new zeal, passion and compassion..
Long LIVE IMA !
